Spring cleaning bedroom tips1/15/2024 Whether you Spring clean your bedroom or not is entirely up to you. With all of these tips and tricks at your disposal, my final piece of advice for successful spring cleaning is to start now! As the weather warms up and the days grow longer, you’ll want to spend your time outdoors, so I encourage you to tackle your seasonal chores as soon as possible. There’s no need to dread Spring Cleaning your bedroom when you use this checklist that divides it into manageable sections so you can work at your own pace. If your drains are clogged, first sprinkle them with salt - an all-natural exfoliant - then flush them with boiling hot water. For noticeably cleaner grout around your tiles, use vinegar, a brush and a little elbow grease. To get rid of grime in the bathtub, scrub the porcelain with baking soda. This cleaner can be used on everything from the floors to the sink. To avoid harsh chemicals that are harmful to you and your family, begin by making your own all-purpose cleaner with a combination of castile soap, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and lemon juice. Last but not least, give your bathroom a deep clean to make it truly sparkle. By putting things such as your lipstick stash or jewelry collection out of sight, you’ll create a more peaceful, serene space. Make sure the surfaces of your bedside table, vanity and dresser aren’t only clean, but uncluttered, too. Last but not least, take this time to simplify your bedroom for the season ahead. After you’ve swapped your linens, turn to your closet and pull your winter wardrobe out and put your spring wardrobe in. Replace thick, heavy textiles with something light, gauzy and refreshing. Starting with the bed, take off, clean and store any layers that are appropriate for the cold weather. Spring cleaning in the bedroom is all about swapping fall and winter for spring and summer. Clean the upholstery, dust those hard-to-reach places (like the blades of a ceiling fan), and clean your carpets by deodorizing with baking soda and removing stains with vinegar. Once you’re organized, take your regular cleaning a step further. Once you’ve weeded out the unnecessary, create a designated spot in the room for all of the random items that stay. Peak in every drawer, examine every shelf, and make sure that everything you find in the living room belongs in the living room. To spring clean your living room, the most important thing is to take a good look at everything that resides in this room. In my experience, the living room accumulates clutter faster than any other room in the house. To buff your stainless steel, put a few drops of olive oil on a paper towel and rub in a circular motion. To clean your microwave, microwave a bowl of water on high for a minute, then wipe out the condensation with a sponge. To clean your oven, use a baking soda paste. On each of these, you can use a combination of baking soda and warm water to get rid of gunk, and vinegar to banish odor. First, turn your attention to your appliances such as the fridge, the dishwasher, the oven and the microwave. After you finish your normal routine - wash the dishes, wipe the cabinets, sweep the floor - go one step further. The kitchen is the heart of many homes, and it deserves a thorough spring cleaning. Pick a weekend, pick a room, get to work, and you’ll be done in no time! Sound familiar? If you’re not looking forward to this annual ritual, remember that you don’t have to finish your spring cleaning in a day. While it feels great to clean up, clean out and simplify, sometimes it feels overwhelming and you don’t know where to start. If you’re like me, spring cleaning is both a refreshing and a completely exhausting exercise.
